Reimagining the
OCAD Website
Background
OCAD is one of Canada's largest and most storied art & design colleges. Their site was stuck in the early 2000s, and didn't reflect their modern creative spirit.
Objectives
- Reorganize their sitemap
- Craft a new design direction to influence their branding
- Rework key userflows for current and prospective students
After an extensive discovery session, we started the design phase in earnest. For my initial design direction proposal, I referenced their iconic main building and combined it with a motion-focused approach based on a strict, square grid to illustrate the creative spirit.
Many rounds of review and feedback later, we settled on a direction that leaned heavily on layers, bright colors, and mark-making. We designed multiple page templates and continued to focus on adding motion to help bring the site to life.
